You Know the Stars by Name
The God Who Calls Each Star by Name!
Have y'all always merely stopped to imagine for a while just how "big and powerful" our God is? Psalms 147:4-5 say, "He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. Swell is our Lord, and abundant in force; His agreement is space." For man, the number of the stars is absolutely across our capability. With the Hubble telescope, we saw deeper into infinite bringing within counting range a new number of stars, but in the altitude became visible an a innumerable faint blur of e'er distant stars! Now every one of those stars God has not only counted, but he is then familiar with them, he has a "pet name" for each! Should this surprise us? After all He created each and every one of them! Which is harder? Counting or creating them? Yes, "His understanding IS Infinite!"
Man is very insignificant in relation to God. Look how God compares human in Isa 40:12 "Who (God) has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand". When we dip our manus into the ocean, we pick upward a few tablespoons of water. God by dissimilarity, can concur all the h2o in all the oceans in the cup of His paw. "God marked off the heavens by the bridge" A span is the distance between the thumb and the pinkie. The uttermost reaches of the infinite universe is measurable past the span of God's manus. "God calculated the dust of the earth by the measure, and weighed the mountains in a balance, and the hills in a pair of scales". While fifty-fifty today with the well-nigh powerful earth-moving equipment and cranes, man tin can move a few hundred tones of rock, God knows the precise weight of the entire planet earth! I have no doubt, that God has a constant cognition of every diminutive particle in the universe. Jehovah is infinite in His cognition. He knows all that there is to know!
Understanding this about the nature of our God has some important implications. It should be obvious that if God has names for each of the stars, that He knows US personally through and though. Wherever we go, God is at that place. Any nosotros practice, God encounter it. While some have the idea that they tin escape being seen by God or that God is so uninterested with man that there are times when God is blissfully indifferent to homo. Elihah the prophet challenged the priests of the idol God "Baal" to set up an alter and have Baal, the god, send fire from sky to consume the offering. Elijah said, 1 Kings 18:26 "'Telephone call on the proper name of your god, but put no fire nether it.' Then they took the ox which was given them and they prepared it and called on the proper name of Baal from forenoon until noon saying, 'O Baal, answer us.' But there was no vox and no one answered. And they leaped about the altar which they made. And it came about at apex, that Elijah mocked them and said, 'Telephone call out with a loud vox, for he is a god; either he is occupied or gone bated, or is on a journey, or possibly he is asleep and needs to exist awakened.' So they cried with a loud voice and cut themselves co-ordinate to their custom with swords and lances until the blood gushed out on them." For these priests, they felt that to go their god's attention they had to cut themselves with knives! But not so with Jehovah God! Elijah went on to say, "Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that Thou, O Lord, fine art God, and that Thou hast turned their middle back once again." Then the fire of the Lord savage, and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the h2o that was in the trench. And when all the people saw information technology, they roughshod on their faces; and they said, "Jehovah, He is God; Jehovah, He is God." Then Elijah said to them, "Seize the prophets of Baal; do not let one of them escape." So they seized them; and Elijah brought them downward to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
What a fantastic dissimilarity between the false gods and the true God of the Bible. He hears us when we call out to Him. Cypher escapes His observe. He is watching over u.s. all through the night when we sleep. He is very concerned about u.s. and loves u.s. all dearly. "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for y'all." 1 Peter 5:7.
